Performance / Tidal Surge 2019

Environment Focused Theatre

Come join Far Flung Dance Theatre’s ‘Tidal Surge’ education project in collaboration with The National Marine Aquarium Plymouth, starting January 2019!

Tidal Surge offers monthly inclusive dance and theatre workshops that will help you feel more 'Connected to our Ocean.'
The project involves Accessible Dance and Theatre workshops, Junk Music Making, Junk Costume Making, Story Writing, Beach Cleans professional and community Performances.

We will provide a platform that will empower more disabled people to have a voice on the subject of responsibility and preservation of our environment.

Due to a recognised lack of disabled access to our shorelines, we will bring the ocean to the participants through our creative workshops and beach cleans- supporting people to feel more Connected to our Oceans.

We will tie in the themes of the Mayflower 400 commemorations, as part of the wider project’ as well as running sessions at Quiet at the Aquarium events.   Community groups and our professional company will devise a story that will be told on one of our beach cleans around the aquarium. This will involve a storyteller and performers and will be performed at the outdoor amphitheater.  A plastic free picnic and competition will end the beach clean.

Workshops at the NMA will close in December 2019 with a final celebration with everyone who has taken part in the sessions, to share and evaluate its success. This will involve a small performance/sharing and food by the Real Junk Food Project.
